As the political parties announce their candidates, the presidential contest has begun to take shape. In advance of the 2027 general election, a number of Nigerian political parties have finished their presidential primaries. The method has produced the following presidential contenders:
- All Progressives Congress (APC) – Bola Ahmed Tinubu
- African Democratic Congress (ADC) David Mark-led faction – Atiku Abubakar
- African Democratic Congress (ADC) Kachikwu-led faction – Dumebi Kachikwu
- African Democratic Congress (ADC) Bala Gombe-led faction – Chris Uba
- Action Democratic Party (ADP) – Aliyu Bin Abbas
- African Action Congress (AAC) – Omoyele Sowore
- Accord Party (AP) – Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim
- Allied Peoples Movement (APM) – Seyi Makinde
- Labour Party (LP) – Chibuzo Okereke
- National Rescue Movement (NRM) – Esther Nkem Okereke
- Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) – Peter Obi
- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wike-led faction – Sandor Onor
- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Turaki-led faction – Goodluck Jonathan
- Social Democratic Party (SDP) – Adewole Adebayo
- Social Democratic Party (SDP) Shehu Gabam-led – Abimbola Akeem Atanda
- Young Peoples Party (YPP) – Mrs Anita Zugwai-Chukwu
- Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) – Dan Nwanyanwu
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued the schedule for the presidential election, which is set for January 16, 2027.
