The National Rescue Movement’s (NRM) presidential ticket for the general election of 2027 has been won by Esther Okereke. She won the presidential primary at the party’s 2027 convention on Friday, May 29.

Chinedu Obi, the National Chairman of the NRM, claimed that she emerged after a thorough screening procedure carried out in compliance with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.

Mr. Obi called the convention a historic mission and a defining national obligation, saying that Nigeria could work again with visionary leadership and collaborative sacrifice.

He claimed that despite the widespread instability in the nation, the delegates’ attendance at the conference showed bravery, patriotism, dedication, and a steadfast faith in the NRM’s principles.

The NRM chairman sympathized with farmers who are unable to reach their farmlands and voiced concern about the nation’s pervasive insecurity.

He claims that because of years of bad leadership and ineffective government, millions of Nigerians still struggle with hunger, poverty, and suffering despite the country’s abundant natural and human resources.

The National Rescue Movement is ready to offer the transformative, capable, responsible, and visionary leadership required to make it happen.

“Together, we shall rescue Nigeria. Together, we shall rebuild Nigeria. Together, we shall restore hope and secure the future,” he declared.

He insisted that Nigeria remained redeemable and capable of reclaiming its status as Africa’s ray of hope, and he asked delegates and Nigerians to back the party’s rescue effort.

Okereke stated in her acceptance speech that she was motivated to join the NRM because she believed the party had the ability and vision to save Nigeria from what she called the verge of institutional collapse.

She pledged to give responsible leadership priority if elected, claiming that politics had long been reduced to power contests rather than government.

Transformative leadership, economic recovery, patriotism, accountability, and sustainable development were the cornerstones of her national rebirth plan.

Restoring national values, fostering inclusive governance, and reviving patriotism are the goals of her agenda, which will cover housing, technology, education, and security.
