One of England’s top-ranked professional football teams, Arsenal Football Club, was founded as Dial Square. Arsenal, one of the most successful clubs in England, is based in North London and has won multiple trophies.
The club, also known as the Gunners, was established on December 11, 1886, by munitions workers at Woolwich’s Royal Arsenal. Their stadium was Highbury until 2006, when they relocated to the Emirates Stadium, which can hold 60,704 spectators.
Arsenal has won 13 English top division titles under manager Arsene Wenger, consisting of 10 First Division titles and 3 Premier League titles since the founding of the new league in 1992. They were the best team for the season in 1997–1998, 2001–2002, and 2003–2004, winning the Premiership three times.
The 2003–2004 season was Arsenal’s most recent Premier League championship win. They went a whole league season undefeated—26 wins, 12 draws, and 0 losses—during the renowned “Invincibles” season.
After the 2017–18 season ended, Wenger left Arsenal on May 13, 2018, because of a drop in results, a lackluster league showing that prevented the team from qualifying for the Champions League, and growing fan dissatisfaction. On May 23, 2018, the club announced the hiring of Spanish coach Unai Emery as its new head coach. Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League during Emery’s first season.
Freddie Ljungberg took Emery’s place as temporary head coach on November 29, 2019. Mikel Arteta, a former club captain, was named Arsenal’s new head coach and manager on December 20, 2019. Arteta has accomplished a lot since taking over as manager. But he has failed to win the Premiership.
With eight victories, one tie, and one loss against Liverpool this season, Arsenal is playing very well overall. The team is presently leading the league table as a result of this performance.
Because they are playing so well, they are predicted to win the league this year. But can they do it? Who can stop the Gunners?
