Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, the father of Afrobeats musician “Davido,” has spoken out regarding the current DNA allegations involving his son. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, he stated that the family had run several DNA tests to determine Anu’s paternity. Anu is thought to be Davido’s daughter.
Regarding the DNA problem, Dr. Adeleke criticized public pressure on the artist and maintained that numerous tests had already established Davido is not the child’s biological father.
People claim that God would punish David for abandoning the child, he said. He inquired about the wishes of the public for David to adopt a child who was not his own.
Dr Adeleke claimed that the family continued to assist the youngster out of kindness, regardless of the DNA test results. Davido’s father claimed that despite being fully aware that the girl is not his grandchild, he has been sending her money and covering her school expenses. He continued to give her ₦50,000 each month for maintenance.
Dr. Adeleke further revealed that he provided educational support to the child and her mother at Adeleke University in Ede, saying he would have been overjoyed if the girl had been his granddaughter, so he could indulge her like the others. He said that in order for the two of them to be in the same Ede, he suggested that the little child Anu attend Adeleke University High School while the mother returns to Adeleke University to get her degree.
Regarding potential legal action, Dr. Adeleke stated that the family could no longer disregard what he called deception and impersonation. He emphasized that science would prevail over online campaigns and petitions.
Davido recently responded to another request for DNA testing by claiming that he had already had multiple tests over the years, all of which had come back negative. This rekindled the dispute. Dr. Adeleke insisted that the family would have welcomed the child without question if there had been proof that Davido was the father.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Adeleke urged the public to ignore online accounts of the case. He stated that the family’s top priorities in the ongoing internet dispute include safeguarding its reputation, ensuring the child’s well-being, and ending what it refers to as false information, impersonation, and exploitation.
