On February 6, 2026, in Abuja, Bello Matawalle, the former governor of Zamfara State and Minister of State for Defence, celebrated a significant family milestone when ten of his children were married in a lavish combined ceremony.

The newlyweds, who were described as a wedding carnival, had five sons—Ibrahim, Abdul Jalal, Surajo, Bello, and Fahad—and five daughters: Maryam, Safiyya, Farida, Nana Firdausi, and Aisha.

Their spouses are from a variety of well-known families; one of the most renowned being Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, the former speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, who wed Nana Bello Matawalle.

Family members, friends, and well-known people from both inside and outside of Nigeria attended the Wedding Fatiha, which was held at the Central Mosque in Abuja.

The officiating Imam, Professor Luqman Zakariyah, led the ceremony. He joined the spouses in the customary Islamic manner and said prayers for them and the country.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to give our President, who is representing all, the father of all the brides and the grooms, good health.

“We also ask Allah to grant our President long life, prosperity, and success during his presidency. We pray that his tenure will bring hope to the hopeless,” the Imam said.

President Bola Tinubu attended the ceremony, making it a significant national occasion. During the couples’ wedding Fātiha, the President acted as Wali (Guardian).

Among the other dignitaries present were Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, and President Carlos Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe.

President Tinubu’s attendance at the wedding was greatly appreciated by Matawalle and his family.

According to “I am deeply hohoured and profoundly grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for graciously serving as Wali at the wedding Fātiha of my children, held at the National Mosque, Abuja. I remain sincerely honoured by this rare privilege,” Matawalle said.
