The internal schedule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been updated for the national convention and party congresses in 2026. The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) announced adjustments after a meeting at the national secretariat in Abuja.
The following is the updated schedule:
• The deadline for electronic membership registration has been extended until February 8, 2026.
• Ward, local government, and state congresses are now set for 18 February 2026.
• The dates of the APC National Convention are March 27–28, 2026.
The NWC indicated that four areas will not participate in the forthcoming congresses:
• Rivers State is not included since the state’s APC executive committees were elected off-cycle last year and are still in office, negating the need to elect new leadership at this time.
• Osun State is left out owing to the approaching governorship and local council elections.
• Ekiti State is also excluded because of approaching election contests in the state.
• Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is not part of the present congress timetable for the same reason as Osun and Ekiti – awaiting elections.
• What this means is that the party is not convening fresh congresses in these areas at the moment. They will likely be planned later, either after elections in Osun, Ekiti, and the FCT or after the existing leadership’s tenure expires in Rivers.
The decisions are part of a greater internal reorganization ahead of the national convention and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
