Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential flagbearer, says he would be on the 2027 ballot as he gets ready to join the ADC with the Obidient Movement and his other government allies. He rejects rumors and maintains that his goal is to lead Nigeria.

Peter Obi has stated that he plans to run for president in 2027. Obi ended months of speculation about his future political aspirations when he made the news during an interactive session on X, which was organized by @obidientupdate.

In a conversation on X, Obi declared, “Yes, I will be on the ballot in 2027.” “But I am not God. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.”

Obi used the occasion to discuss some of Nigeria’s most pressing issues in the fields of administration, security, and the economy.

“Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your prayers. I need your support,” he declared, dismissing insinuations that he would accept a vice-presidential slot.

“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be vice president.”

Regarding the economy, Obi criticized the federal government’s policies that mostly relied on taxes without increasing productivity and cautioned that doing so would make life more difficult for regular people. “You cannot tax poverty. Economic recovery must be driven by increased production, investment, and job creation.”

Obi urged followers to reject political animosity, insults, and acts of violence directed at him, stating that he was not thirsty for office. “I am not desperate to be President. I am desperate to see Nigeria work,” he declared, cautioning that intimidation, name-calling, and haughtiness would only widen national rifts.

Regarding coalition negotiations and opposition realignments in the run-up to 2027, Obi said he would only take part in alliances based on the common good and that he had prayed not to be enticed into power structures motivated by selfish interests. He declared, “I will only be part of a coalition that is committed to forming a government that will serve the people and change the narrative of Nigeria.”

He revealed that the only issue he is facing is Nigeria’s deteriorating security and waning public trust.

“What should worry us is that people can no longer travel freely across this country,” Obi stated.

Obi insisted that leadership must continue to be based on skill and character, emphasizing that he has never joined political groups on the basis of religion, ethnicity, or personal benefit.

He urged the Obidient movement to unite, especially among young Nigerians, who he said were essential to creating a fair, prosperous, and cohesive country.

His supporters actively participated in the session, and several of them complimented Obi on his thorough and policy-focused contributions.
