“Personnel of the Bara Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly responded to the incident and rushed the victim to Bularaba Primary Health Care Facility for medical attention, where he was confirmed dead by a medical practitioner
“The suspect was immediately apprehended, while the cutlass used in committing the offence was recovered. The case has subsequently been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet and complete investigation,” the police said.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Emmanuel Ado, advised members of the public against taking the law into their own hands in resolving social or marital conflicts.
He asked locals to report problems to relevant authorities rather than resorting to arbitrary acts, adding that the command will not hesitate to prosecute anyone found accountable in accordance with the law.
In Nigeria, infidelity-related murder is a serious and growing problem that frequently results from psychological distress and social pressures.
It is advisable for couples who are tired of their marriage and can no longer live happily together to seek divorce, instead of committing murder. This is so because it is not a defence that his or her husband was caught in an illicit relationship.
