Due to safety concerns and the need to strengthen regulatory control, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) has issued a nationwide mop-up and designated the Indomie Brand Noodles (Vegetable Flavor) hazardous for human consumption.
Due to the presence of unreported allergens (milk and eggs), NAFDAC issued Public Alert No. 041/2025, recalling Indomie Brand Noodles (Vegetable Flavor Product). All batches of the Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026, are recalled, it said, and they represent a significant health risk.
All zonal directors and state coordinators have been instructed by the regulatory authority to increase monitoring and promptly seize any recalled noodles that may be in stores, warehouses, or distribution networks.
However, Indomie Nigeria denied accusations that its noodles are impacted by the NAFDAC safety alert in a statement made on Sunday, December 21, calling the claims false and deceptive. According to the company, the product mentioned in the NAFDAC alert is unrelated to Duril Prima Foods’ locally produced Indomie noodles and is not produced, imported, marketed, or sold in Nigeria.
Indomie Nigeria claims that the NAFDAC alert was merely issued as a precautionary step to safeguard Nigerian customers and was based on a product recall that was conducted in France in August 2025.
