The Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulated Christians in Nigeria and around the world in his 2025 Christmas goodwill message, which was made public on Wednesday, December 24. He described Christmas as a time to focus on the birth of Jesus Christ and his message of peace, love, and hope.
In addition, he expressed gratitude to God for giving him the chance to be president and offered prayers for national harmony, especially between religiously diverse groups. Tinubu emphasized that no one should be subjected to suffering for expressing and practicing their faith, saying that Nigerians of all origins had the right to live, worship, and pursue their goals in safety and dignity.
President Bola Tinubu underlined his dedication to fostering peaceful coexistence throughout Nigeria and safeguarding Nigerians of all faiths. “Christmas is a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and His message of peace, hope, and goodwill to humanity,” the president said.
President Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians to maintain harmony, religious tolerance, and peaceful cohabitation, stating that his government is still dedicated to ensuring the safety and rights of people of all religions.
The President also said that he had spoken with the leaders of the nation’s two main religions over the year, focusing on issues like religious intolerance and insecurity. He stated that love for God and humanity were universal principles and that no citizen should be subjected to violence or discrimination because of their race or religion.
“On this Holy Day, I wish all Christians in Nigeria and around the world a Merry Christmas. I thank God for the opportunity to serve as the leader of our great country, and I pray for peace in our land, especially among individuals of differing religious beliefs.
“As your President, I remain committed to doing everything within my power to enshrine religious freedom in Nigeria and to protect all people of different faiths from violence.
“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us also reflect on the many contributions that Christians in Nigeria, as followers of Christ, have made and continue to make toward the progress of our country.”
He stated that in order to improve cooperation with religious organizations, avoid confrontations, and foster peaceful cohabitation, the Federal Government would expand on the partnerships.
Tinubu wished passengers a safe journey and asked drivers to be patient and disciplined on the roads as Nigerians travel to celebrate the season with family and loved ones.
“With confidence in divine providence and our collective strength, we will continue the work of building a greater Nigeria, one that future generations will be proud of.
“I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance,” the President stated.
