Two Nigeians, Chukwudi Okafor and Samuel Eze, are accused of beating Emeka Christian, a Nigerian living in Pune, India, to death following a romantic disagreement.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has conveyed deep sorrow over Emeka Christian’s untimely and terrible death.

In a statement released on Saturday, January 17, 2026, in Abuja, NIDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa expressed her sincere sympathies to the departed family and loved ones, saying that no family should have to go through such heartache.

Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocol, signed the statement, which stated that the commission had urged the Indian authorities to look into the matter in detail and make sure that justice was done.

“NIDCOM calls on the relevant Indian authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation, ensuring that justice is served without delay.”

“We also urge all Nigerians in the diaspora to always be their brothers’ keepers, resolve conflicts peacefully through dialogue, and uphold the highest standards of conduct.

“As ambassadors of our great nation in your respective domains, your actions abroad reflect on Nigeria’s image; let us choose unity, respect, and lawfulness in every situation.

“Violence has no place among us. Together, we can build a stronger and more positive diaspora community,” the statement added.
