In an automobile accident in Ogun State, Anthony Joshua was hurt, and two other men were killed. The Olympic gold medalist and British heavyweight was seen racing in a Lexus SUV on Monday morning when the crash occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the Lexus crashed into a stationary truck. According to the FRSC’s preliminary findings, the Lexus was above the legally allowed speed limit, lost control while passing, and collided with a stalled truck that was well-packed by the side of the road.
Following the crash, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu expressed his sympathies to Anthony Joshua. According to the president’s statement:
“This immense tragedy casts a deep shadow on this season. I sympathise with you and your family as you bear the emotional weight of this unfortunate incident.
“As a sportsman, you have always shown courage, discipline, and unwavering love for our country. These are qualities that have made you a source of national pride.
“I pray for strength, wisdom, and grace for you during this period. May God grant you a speedy recovery and repose to the souls of the departed.”
Joshua’s family is from Shagamu in Ogun State.
