Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023, has promised his followers that he is prepared to run in the 2027 elections. Obi urged Nigerians to work with him in order to free their country from decades of bad leadership. He claims that the nation’s poor governance will have an adverse effect on future generations.
At the African Democratic Congress (ADC) OBIDIENT Conference and formal declaration in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with the theme “Activating the PO Effect in ADC,” Obi called on Nigerians to put aside their differences and come together in order to save the country in the 2027 presidential election.
Insisting that he would come out even if the elections were held metaphorically in their bedroom, he claimed to have good authority that the Federal Government does not want him to run.
Obi said that the present government had collected more loans than any previous administration. He also said that the majority of the loans will be paid back between 2045 and 2050, by which time the majority of those responsible for the nation’s debt must have left.
He claimed to have quit the Labour Party after learning that INEC would not acknowledge its leadership as long as he remained a member. “The Federal Government doesn’t want me on the ballot paper,” he said. Nigeria needs to get it right by 2027, he said, adding that election results had to be posted online instantly.
Obi claimed that most great nations in the world attained greatness through deliberate investments in education and that, if elected, his administration would make significant investments in health and education. He also promised to do everything in his power to lift people out of poverty in order to lower crime.
As he stresses that he wants to help fix Nigeria now that he has the strength to take on any difficult task, the former presidential candidate added that he would tour the entire country and all higher institutions to see the real challenges on the ground.
He added that those who join him in realizing his ambition must realize that the future and well-being of the people come first. He pledged to eradicate corruption from Nigeria, stating that once a leader and his family are not involved in corruption, the threat will be diminished.
