According to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, all Rivers State political parties have united to form a coalition supporting President Tinubu’s reelection campaign. During a thank-you tour, he declared that the state’s politics were based on unity and a common goal rather than party ties.

The minister claims that every politician in the state is now a member of the rainbow coalition, which is an effort to assist Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Family.

“In Rivers, we don’t have any party now. What we have is renewed hope family. It’s a rainbow coalition,” he said.

This signifies a change from party politics to a group political movement aimed at furthering the goals of the state.

However, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has opposed the notion of a rainbow coalition in Rivers State.

According to IPAC, Rivers State’s political parties would not form a rainbow coalition for the state’s general election in 2027.

In a statement, IPAC’s National Publicity Secretary stated that it never gave the minister or any other person permission to decide on the political inclinations, coalitions, or election preferences of registered political parties at the state or federal levels.
